New York City Area Debate Tournaments Fit for the Best and Brightest
The Tri-State Debate League is a community of committed educators curating high-quality middle and high school debate tournaments to serve students in the metropolitan area. We proudly host tournaments at premier settings with experienced and academically focused judges while providing unique and impressive awards. Our tournaments are a local option for programs and debaters looking to advance toward national circuit success.
In addition to providing the region's best debate tournament competition, the Tri-State Debate League offers instructional tutorials and lectures from some of the best collegiate debaters, instructors, and coaches in the country. As these instructors typically work at expensive summer debate institutes, the Tri-State Debate League brings those lessons to tournaments.
The Tri-State Debate League is also interested in fostering a community of coaches who provide mutual support and professional development. League directors are available to provide professional development, instructional training, as well as seminars on logistics, Tabroom management, and a myriad of other coaching competencies regarding speech and debate events.
Next Year's Tournament and Workshoppe Calendar

Middle School (Rookie, Open)
Lincoln-Douglas Debate

At our Tri-State Debate League tournaments, we pride ourselves on the mantra of "Tournaments that Teach" - while that includes the instruction inherent in the activity itself, we also host lectures, tutorials, and even instructional modules for students and coaches to learn more about their respective formats and how to achieve success at the highest of levels from knowledgeable collegiate debaters, coaches, and instructional staff from all over the nation.
